Waseca County 4-H set to host annual garage sale

The public is invited to come shop at the 14th annual Waseca County 4-H Garage Sale. This garage sale is the largest in town during the Waseca citywide garage sales.

Dates for the sale are Friday, May 17 from 3:30 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 18 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 4-H Building on the Waseca County Fairgrounds in Waseca.

This year again includes “Super Saver Sunday,” which will take place on Sunday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 pm. There will be huge deals on leftover items.

Beginning May 13, people can see photos of some items that will be for sale during the Garage Sale by visiting z.umn.edu/GarageSalePhotos . All items at the sale are donated by community members. 4-H members and adult volunteers collect the donations, sort and organize the items, determine pricing, and work at the sale. Waseca County 4-H is thankful for the support of their partners for this event — the Waseca County Fair Board, Waseca County Solid Waste, and Eaton Trucking.

If you aren’t able to support the Waseca County 4-H Garage Sale through donation of items or attending the sale, you are welcome to make a tax-deductible donation of any amount at the 4-H online giving site. It’s fast and easy to do, and many youth will benefit from your generosity.

In 2023, this annual event had over 90 4-H youth, parents, and adult volunteers help to prepare and put on the sale. 245 hours were spent collecting donations, organizing items, hosting the sale, and cleaning up. Over 300 pounds of clothing was donated, and people attended from as far away as Dayton, IA; New Lisbon, WI; and Cambridge, MN.

Proceeds from the garage sale are used to fund project-related learning opportunities, community service projects, day camps and overnight summer camps, and scholarships for leadership trips for over 275 youth who are part of Waseca County 4-H.
