Waseca man charged with possessing child pornography

A Waseca man is facing a felony charge for possessing child pornography after a series of administrative subpoenas tied his email account to a pornagraphic film involving an underaged girl which was uploaded onto a popular file hosting app last August.

Anthony Floyd Wolff, 38, was charged on June 20 with possession of child pornography, marking the culmination of a months-long investigation which began last November when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip from Dropbox.

According to the statement of probable cause, Dropbox’s tip related to a video which had been uploaded on August 25 and showed a prepubescent girl, appearing to be under the age of 13 with childlike features, having sex with a man.

The email associated with the account which uploaded the child pornography was registered to a “John Davis.” However, its recovery email was Wolff’s — and the “John Davis” email would later be identified by Wolff’s former landlord as one of Wolff’s email accounts.

Questioned by Police, Wolff admitted to using both email addresses, but said that the “John Davis” email address was used for online gambling. He denied setting up a Dropbox Account, and said he did not know how one would be opened with his email addresses associated.

Wolff was booked into Waseca County Jail on June 20 but granted conditional release later in the day. He is required to maintain regular contact with an attorney and probation officer, must keep the court informed of his current address and cannot leave Minnesota without court approval.
