    Storylines to Watch

    - Charlie Lindgren, the Capitals' starting netminder to open the postseason, will face off against his brother, New York defenseman Ryan Lindgren. The two have set boundaries before the series.

    - This is Spencer Carbery's first season with Washington and his first Stanley Cup Playoff appearance as an NHL head coach. He will see former Capitals head coach Peter Laviolette, who parted ways with the team last April after missing the postseason for the first time in nine years, on the other side. Laviolette led the Rangers to the Presidents' Trophy this season.

    - Dylan Strome is playing in his first real Stanley Cup Playoff series; the last experience he had was in the bubble in 2020, but he doesn't count that as a real run.

    - Alex Ovechkin is in for his 15th NHL playoff run after managing 31 goals this season and moving closer to Wayne Gretzky's all-time record.
