The Washington Capitals have some work to do and decisions to make this offseason, as do a handful of their prospects. And with free agency approaching, the wheels are starting to turn throughout the organization.

Prospect Joe Snively, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, is reportedly garnering interest from the KHL, per Sports Express’ Arthur Khairullin .

Snively, a Herndon, Virginia native and Little Caps alumnus who signed with his hometown Capitals out of college in March 2019, has primarily spent his time with the AHL’s Hershey Bears, but has gotten a handful of opportunities up in the NHL.

The 28-year-old has six goals and five assists in 27 career NHL games, and he won the Calder Cup with the Bears in 2023.

In 69 games with Hershey this past season, Snively had 14 goals and 45 assists for 59 points.

Heading overseas could provide a higher salary and more playing time at the highest level for the 5-foot-9, 176-pound winger, who hasn’t been able to become a full-time NHLer.

In other prospect news, goaltending prospect Antoine Keller is making a smart step in his career, taking his talents back overseas to the National League in Switzerland and signed with Lausanne HC.

The France native had played overseas before being drafted in the seventh round of the 2023 NHL Draft and spending this past year in the QMJHL with Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

In 37 games with the Titan this season, Keller put up a 17-12-5 record with a .897 save percentage and 3.05 GAA, and he also impressed with a .925 save percentage through seven playoff games.

With the Capitals organization experiencing an influx of goaltending depth, going back to play in the NL will allow him to play against top competition and continue his development at a high level as he works to prove he can eventually evolve into a top NHL netminder.
