Bloody weekend in D.C. sees 4 killed in separate shootings

Four people were killed in four different shootings across the District this weekend, and police have yet to announce any arrests in the violent incidents.

Metropolitan Police said the most recent shooting occurred around 4:15 p.m. Sunday, when a teen was gunned down in Northwest.

Authorities said Raymond Washington, 18, of Northeast, died in a hospital after officers responded to sounds of gunfire on the 700 block of Missouri Avenue Northwest.

Police are looking for a Black male who was last seen wearing a gray tank top, light blue jeans, black sneakers and a black satchel bag in connection to the slaying.

Two people were killed in shootings that were three hours apart on Saturday.

MPD said Michael Sturgent Morris, 45, of Northeast, was found shot inside an Ivy City apartment around 1:30 p.m.

The victim died in the home on the 1800 block of Providence Street Northeast police said. Authorities are looking for a black pickup truck with a man and two women inside that they say are linked to the slaying.

Around 4:10 p.m., authorities said 29-year-old Dionzae Foote, of Oxon Hill, Maryland, was suffering a gunshot wound in Southeast. Mr. Foote died at the scene on the 2700 block of Shipley Terrace Southeast.

MPD declared a barricade after a suspect was believed to have holed up in a nearby apartment, but police called it off when the person of interest wasn’t found. A silver sedan is linked to the killing.

The weekend carnage began late Friday evening when, according to police, Jontae Donald Gilliam, 39, of Northeast, was found dead from gunshot wounds just after 11 p.m. on the 600 block of Morton Street Northwest.

Police have neither named nor described any suspects or persons of interest in the shooting.

According to police data, this weekend's killings bring the total for the year so far in the District to 91 homicides, down 24% from the number through the same date in 2023.

Last year's 274 killings were the most the District had seen since the late 1990s.
