    Fatal scooter crash in Southwest DC leaves teen dead, another hurt

    WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is searching for a car involved in a fatal hit-and-run that happened Thursday night in Southwest D.C.

    MPD said a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old boy were riding a stolen Fly Wing 150cc scooter at around 10:30 p.m. in the 3800 block of South Capitol Street SW.

    An unknown black vehicle was traveling the opposite way in the 3700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE when it collided head-on with the scooter.

    Two people in custody as Greenbelt police investigate armed robbery

    Both boys were ejected from the scooter while the driver of the vehicle fled.

    Da’Ron Ross, 16, of Southwest D.C. was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The other teenage boy was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
