DC police: 1 dead after double stabbing in Georgetown Safeway parking garage

WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said that two men were stabbed in a Safeway parking garage on Wednesday.

MPD officers were called to a hospital just before 12:30 p.m., where two stabbing victims had taken themselves for treatment.

One man died at the hospital. Police said that the other man is expected to survive.

MPD determined that the stabbing happened at the store in the 1800 block of Wisconsin Ave. NW. There was no information about a suspect as of 3 p.m.

Things were business as usual at the store Wednesday afternoon.

One shopper who spoke with DC News Now was surprised to hear what had happened.

“It’s shocking because I come here often to pick up groceries and things. It’s scary, life’s unpredictable sometimes,” said shopper Jonathan Monteiro.
