    DC police investigating shooting near Catholic University

    WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — D.C. police are investigating a shooting that happened in Northeast Monday night.

    The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said a shooting broke out in the 400 block of Michigan Ave. just before 8 p.m. There, officers found a man who had been shot.

    The man was not conscious or breathing and a Homicide Unit was requested to the scene.

    The shooting happened blocks away from the Catholic University of America.

    The university sent out an alert around 8:41 p.m. to its students to shelter in place and has been in lockdown since then.

    Preliminary, MPD said there wasn’t any evidence of the shooting taking place on campus.

    MPD said there was no lookout but if anyone has information to call 911 with the event number: I20240394406.
