Commanders re-sign wide receiver Byron Pringle

The Washington Commanders have re-signed wide receiver Byron Pringle, as first reported Wednesday morning by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport . Pringle was initially signed by the Commanders last season, in part to help with the transition to the offense that new head coach Eric Bieniemy brought over from the Kansas City Chiefs .

Pringle served mostly as a special teams’ player for the Commanders last season, but did have 14 receptions on the season for 161 yards. Pringle spent the first three seasons of his NFL career with Bieniemy as the Chiefs offensive coordinator, winning one Super Bowl with the team. After his time in Kansas City, Pringle spent one season with the Chicago Bears before signing with the Commanders.

With the league’s new kickoff rules, there’s a chance that Pringle could see increased value for his role on the Commanders’ special teams unit, but he’s still unlikely to play heavily into their offensive plans.
