It's pretty wild to think that the Washington Commanders will play its first preseason game in less than a week, but that's obviously a wondrous realization, as it means real football is just around the corner.

The biggest question on everyone's minds heading into the New York Jets contest is how much will not just the starters play, but how many reps No. 2 overall pick, Jayden Daniels, will receive in the game. Everyone, and rightfully so, wants to see the Commanders' QB of the future in action against another NFL squad.

And sure, enough Commanders head coach Dan Quinn confirmed the suspicion that Daniels will play in the first game of the preseason, even with the fact that the Commanders and Jets will practice against each other two days before kickoff. Sometimes, teams will sit starters after a joint session, simply because they got better work in during the practice than they would the game.

"Yes," Quinn simply said when asked if Daniels will play on Saturday. ".... We probably said it all along - there's been a whole process, like, it's not been a secret at all. But, a process of how we're going to go and get guys ready. The games are important to go and play and get ready. Not just with Jayden, but with everybody. [It] doesn't mean we would play the same exact style that we may play during the regular season.

"[However], being in the game, the officials, the communication, working it through, there's a lot of important elements for a lot of guys. And even as you get into the preseason game, just because you play you know, some, doesn't mean you're playing all."

"I'm just love playing football so I'm happy about it," Daniels said after practice . "I always knew I was going to play. I don't know when I'm going to play. At least I have the opportunity to go out there and play, so I'm excited for it."

Now, the question is simply a matter of how much Daniels plays and if he opens the game as the "starting quarterback". Unfortunately, there weren't any follow-ups pertaining to that exact context, so we'll have to leave it up to our collective imaginations when it comes to pondering the situation. Or, until Tuesday's practice when Quinn speaks again. Maybe he'll get some in-depth questions, then.

Either way, Saturday's matchup against the Jets will certainly be must-see TV, since Daniels will make his first official appearance as the Commanders QB against another NFL team.
