Dodgers Vs. Cardinals Game Preview: Teoscar Hernández Out Of Lineup
The Los Angeles Dodgers snapped their two-game losing streak in the series opener at Busch Stadium and now can clinch a series win against the St. Louis Cardinals. But they’ll need to do so without Tyler Glasnow or Teoscar Hernández. Glasnow was placed on the 15-day injured list because of right elbow tendinitis, but for Hernández it’s just a day of rest.
St. Louis Cardinals probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Dodgers, August 17th
Let's try this again. The St. Louis Cardinals (60-62) are now two games below .500 and are seeing the window of opportunity continue to shrink as they are set to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers (72-51) tonight at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals, if we are being honest, look like a team that will be heading toward a top 10 pick in the 2025 MLB Draft at this rate, but there is still a sliver of hope that they can get back into this race. It will require them to go on a run though, and it has to start now.
Michael Kopech Helps Dodgers Tie Franchise Record For Pitchers With Save
The Los Angeles Dodgers opened their series against the St. Louis Cardinals with a 7-6 victory that ended with Michael Kopech closing it out. Kopech was given the save chance due to a variety of reasons, including the group’s performance as of late, recent usage and availability of certain arms, and the right-hander making the most of his opportunities.
Cardinals' Steven Matz: One more rehab start needed
Matz (back) will require one more minor-league rehab start before being activated from the 60-day injured list. Matz struck out six in 4.1 scoreless innings during a rehab outing with Triple-A Memphis on Friday, but hasn't been deemed ready to return. Despite being on the shelf since May 3, Matz shouldn't have any restrictions once activated from the injured list considering he threw 76 pitches Friday. Following the trade deadline acquisition of Erick Fedde, it's unclear who'll be the odd man out in the St. Louis rotation once Matz is healthy.
Cardinals' Michael Siani: Cleared to swing
Team doctors cleared Siani (oblique) to resume winging a bat, John Denton of MLB.com reports. Siani has been throwing and doing light fielding drills since undergoing a PRP injection Aug. 6, and he'll now be able to add swinging to his baseball activities. The center fielder hasn't played since Aug. 3 due to a strained right oblique but could be back before the end of August.
Cardinals' Kyler Murray: Not in line to play
Murray is going through pregame warmups but isn't in line to play in Saturday's preseason game at Indianapolis, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports. Coach Jonathan Gannon said two weeks ago that Murray won't play at all this preseason. The Cardinals gave some of their younger starters playing time in the preseason opener, including a brief appearance by WR Marvin Harrison, but they might have a different plan for Saturday night.

The Los Angeles Dodgers look to take Game 2 of their series with the St. Louis Cardinals as the teams get back together for a Saturday night first pitch. The game is scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m. ET (6:15 p.m. CT) with TV coverage on FOX and streaming on-demand.
Indy NXT Rookie Callum Hedge Pulls Off Stellar Save to Avoid the Wall at WWT
Callum Hedge was running in fifth right before the halfway point in Saturday's IndyNXT race. The NXT rookie lost control and slid off the preferred slicked racing line at the bottom while entering turn one during the Outfront Showdown at WWT Raceway in Madison, Illinois. Hedge remained calm and quickly...
