Woman dies while hiking near Quail Creek State Park
ST. GEORGE — Authorities say extreme heat caused a woman’s death Sunday afternoon. Law enforcement was dispatched to a trail near Quail Creek State Park after receiving reports that a 56-year-old woman was in distress while hiking. She reportedly did not have enough water in 106-degree weather, according to a news release issued by the Hurricane City Police Department’s public information officer Doug Thornton.
