Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) argued the values of Latino Americans are greatly in line with the Republican Party, which gives lawmakers a major chance to win the voting bloc in the November elections .

Cruz launched a $4.4 million Spanish advertising campaign last month that seeks to persuade Latino American voters to support his bid for a third Senate term. The Texas senator, whose father is from Cuba, argued his party has a “historic opportunity” to win over Latino American voters because their values are “fundamentally conservative.”

“You look at the values which resonate in the Latino community: they are faith, they are family, they are patriotism,” Cruz said on Fox News’s Jesse Watters Primetime guest-hosted by Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy. “A lot don’t know the demographic with the highest rate of military enlistment in the United States is Hispanics. And the most powerful ethos, I believe in the Hispanic community, is the American dream, coming here and seeking your freedom.”

Cruz referenced how his father left Cuba for the United States in 1957 and arrived with “nothing” while washing dishes but was still “filled with hopes and dreams.” Cruz then argued that Hispanic families are “feeling the brunt of the failures” of the Biden-Harris administration and predicted they will vote for both him and former President Donald Trump in November.

The Texas senator then discussed the “enormous difference” between legal and illegal immigrants in the U.S. and argued legal immigrants have been “left out in the cold” amid the topic of illegal immigration in the country. One factor many overlook, Cruz claimed, is how many illegal immigrants will go into the communities of legal immigrants, with many of these illegal immigrants being “violent criminals.”

“We are seeing every single day Americans being murdered by illegal immigrants that Kamala Harris has released, children being assaulted, women being raped by illegal immigrants that they’ve released, and I think that’s front and center in the presidential race,” Cruz said.

Polling data released last month found that 63% of Latino American Democrats in May said they support more “control” of the southern border , which is up by 8 percentage points compared to July of last year.

Cruz is set to face Rep. Colin Allred (D-TX) in November. Polling data shows the Republican senator 3 percentage points ahead of his challenger. Allred has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in her 2024 presidential bid against Trump.
