Trump thanks Brittany Mahomes for ‘strongly defending’ him amid social media drama

Former President Donald Trump gave his thanks to Brittany Mahomes on Wednesday for “strongly defending” him on social media.

Mahomes, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, generated controversy last month when she appeared to like an Instagram post from the former president’s account. In the wake of the controversy generated online, Mahomes wrote a message that did not directly reference the drama, stating that people “have to have some deep rooted issues” from childhood to “hate to see others doing well.”

“I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful Political Movement in the History of our now Failing Country,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “With Crime and Illegal Immigration totally out of control, INFLATION Ravaging all Americans, and a World that is laughing at the stupidity of our hapless 'leaders,' it is nice to see someone who loves our Country, and wants to save it from DOOM. What a great couple - See you both at the Super Bowl!”

The post Mahomes appeared to like, which laid out the Republican Party’s 2024 platform, was shared by Trump on Aug. 13. Among the policies listed in the post were securing the southern border, keeping "men out of women’s sports," and deporting “pro-Hamas radicals.”

Trump’s comment comes ahead of the first game of the 2024 NFL season on Thursday night, when the Chiefs will host the Baltimore Ravens.

Earlier this year, Patrick Mahomes said he avoids discussing controversial topics , including politics, because he wants people to conduct their own research before casting their votes. The Chiefs player did not endorse any candidate in 2020 and indicated he has no plans to give an endorsement this year, either.

One celebrity whose endorsement some are waiting on is musician Taylor Swift , who is dating another Chiefs star, tight end Travis Kelce. While Swift endorsed then-candidate Joe Biden against Trump in 2020, she has yet to issue an endorsement this year, only encouraging people to vote on Super Tuesday in March.
