KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Knoxville Police are investigating after a “serious” single-vehicle crash on Buffat Mill Road left a woman dead and two people injured Friday.

Knoxville Police initially asked drivers to use alternate routes around the area of Buffat Mill Road at Loves Creek as officers were working a “serious crash” around 11:50 a.m.

KPD shared that the crash involved a single-passenger van, which investigators believe was driving east of Buffat Mill Road when it went through the intersection at Loves Creek and crashed through the guardrail, then came to a rest in the woods.

The driver of the van, identified only as an adult woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police added that two adult passengers were injured. They were taken to an area hospital, but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
