    Fugitive wanted for murder has ties to Waterbury

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WTNH) — A fugitive wanted for murder in Texas and escape in Mississippi has ties to Waterbury, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

    Joshua Zimmerman has a warrant for his arrest in Harris County, Texas for murder and one in DeSoto County, Mississippi for escape.

    The U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force are assisting the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department in finding the 30-year-old, who escaped from the Circuit Court Building in Mississippi in mid-June.

    Zimmerman was being held on charges for attempted murder and armed robbery at the time. He was also meant to be extradited back to Houston, Texas for a murder charge.

    Officials said Zimmerman has ties to the Memphis, Tennessee and Waterbury, Connecticut.

    He is described as standing 5 feet and 11 inches and weighing 210 pounds. Officials believe he has shaved his beard since escaping custody.

    Zimmerman is considered armed and dangerous and people are advised not to approach him if seen.

    A $10,000 reward for information that leads to Zimmerman’s arrest is being offered by the U.S. Marshals Service. Citizens are urged to call 1-800-336-0102. All tips are anonymous.
