WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — Some children in Waterbury will finish off their summer with a new set of wheels.

Campers at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Waterbury received new bicycles and helmets on Thursday. The bikes were thanks to the David and Sherry Cordani Family Foundation, which strives to keep kids active.

“It’s an amazing surprise,” said Karen Senich, the executive director of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Waterbury. “Never expected this kind of surprise for them. To be able to get bicycles and be able to go outside and enjoy the summer, it’s a great way for them to take it home and be kids.”

Shaker’s Automotive Group helped bring the new bikes to the camp, and Waterbury Mayor Paul Pernerewski helped unveil the surprise.

“It’s really amazing,” Carter Groben, a camper, said. “This is probably one of the best bikes that I actually have ever had in my whole entire life.”
