WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — Meet 10-year-old Drew Baker of Waterbury. He loves music-whether he’s jamming out on the drums or taking the spotlight on stage singing and playing the keyboard.

But what Baker loves most of all is helping people!

“I did this project, Share the Love, and Share the Snacks Food Drive,” said Drew, who was motivated after seeing several food drive flyers at both his church and school.

“I was like what about the snack items? What do parents put in their kids lunch boxes? Things like that,” he said.

    So, he got to work!

“I collected things like fruit snacks, peanut butter crackers and a bunch of other stuff,” he said.

“Our total was 5,429 single-serving packs plus $635 monetary donation dollars. I donated it to four food pantries, Greater Waterbury Interfaith Ministries, Waterbury Baptist Ministries, Wolcott Pantry and St Vincent DePaul,” he said.

Baker is autistic and visually impaired; he works hard for himself and works hard to help others.

“I was ecstatic knowing I was helping others,” he said.

Here’s to hoping his kindness is contagious!

Baker will be heading into sixth grade at Wendell Cross School in Waterbury next month and plans to hold another food drive!
