Brooklyn, IL – Two Hurt in Auto Accident on IL Rte 3 at Canal St
Brooklyn, IL (July 21, 2024) – A child and adult were hurt in a crash that closed down Illinois Route 3 for several hours on Friday afternoon in St. Clair County. A car and semi-truck crashed in Brooklyn near the area of Canal Street and the McKinley Bridge. The child and adult were airlifted from the scene. Illinois State Police also responded to the scene. However, they did not release any additional information regarding the crash or the severity of the child and adult’s injuries.

CAHOKIA HEIGHTS - Eighteen area high school juniors and seniors were introduced to the fascinating world of aviation during Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC)’s inaugural Aviation Summer Sampler Camp held July 11 through July 13. During the three-day camp, they learned about all aspects of aviation through a combination of hands-on experiences, panels with students and professionals, and presentations by special guest speakers. The highlight of the camp came on the final day, when campers and their families gathered at St. Louis Downtown Airport to close out their experience with a flight in the cockpit of a real plane.

ST. LOUIS — A man was found shot to death Sunday evening on a porch in north St. Louis. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called shortly after 5:30 p.m. Sunday to a shooting in the 4800 block of Maffitt Avenue in the city's Kingshighway East neighborhood. There, police found 62-year-old Robert Allen of St. Louis on a porch suffering gunshot wounds to his back.

BEL-RIDGE, Mo. — A St. Louis man died Sunday morning after having a medical emergency behind the wheel and crashing his car into a tree off of Interstate 170 in Bel-Ridge. According to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 30-year-old Steven Scott Jr. was driving northbound at just before noon Sunday on I-170, north of St. Charles Rock Road, when he experienced a medical emergency. His car traveled off the right side of the road and down the embankment before striking a large tree and landing on its side.

In Dutchtown, a 40-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend on Friday, as reported by First Alert 4 from St. Louis, MO. Prosecutors in St. Louis have pressed charges against Derrick A. Smith, a resident of the city, for first-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful possession of a firearm. The victim, who has not been publicly identified, was 38 years old at the time of their death.
