WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI)- Watertown High School graduate Ryan Peters fired a complete-game two-hit shutout as the Watertown Rapids swept a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League doubleheader from the Boonville Lumberjacks for the second time in five days Thursday night at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.

Peters struck out six and only allowed two walks as Watertown (18-17) got over the .500 mark with a 1-0 win in the second game. Ryan Kramer’s fourth-inning sacrifice fly scored Jake Blozy for the only run of the game for the Rapids.

Bruno Cergol was the hard-luck loser for Boonville (10-23) as he allowed only one hit and one run. Walddy Rodriguez and Garrett Linebeger each posted singles for the Lumberjacks.

Sam Meyer’s three-run homer in the first game powered Watertown to an 11-4 victory in the opening game of the double dip. Camdin Jansen chipped in with a pair of RBIs and Jeph Hadson-Taylor collected three hits for the Rapids, who have won four straight and have gone 10-2 in the month of July.

Nathan VanDeVoorde worked five-plus innings to register the pitching victory for the Rapids.

Carter Storti doubled and drove in a run as part of a two-hit effort while Quinn Oliver absorbed the loss for Boonville.

The same two teams play each other in Boonville at 6:45 p.m. tonight before Watertown tests itself at 5 p.m. Sunday against the defending league-champion Amsterdam Mohawks.
