    Watertown Rapids close out PGCBL regular season with win over Oneonta

    WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – The Watertown Rapids closed out the regular season in style with a 6-4 Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League victory over the Oneonta Outlaws Sunday at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds.

    Tyler Jacobsen recorded two hits and two RBIs while Dylan Wanat tripled and drove in a run for Watertown, which wrapped up the regular season with a 22-18-1 record. Nathan VanDeVoorde went five innings to pick up the win while Brendan Karadenes tossed four innings of relief to get the save for the Rapids.

    Ryan King clubbed a two-run home run and Brendan Connolly posted three hits, including a triple, for Oneonta (15-21-2). Lawrence Ellinson absorbed the loss for the Outlaws. Oneonta will play third-seeded Mohawk Valley in the first round of the PGCBL Playoffs.

    Watertown will play the Utica Blue Sox (23-18-1) in the opening-round of the PGBL postseason. The two teams split their regular-season series with each other at five games apiece. The Rapids have won three out of the last four games, including the last two meetings.

    The game will be at 6:45 p.m. at Murnane Field in Utica.
