Fatal crash in Fayette County
FAYETTE COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) - At approximately 3:56 pm, the Iowa State Patrol responded to the intersection of 240 St. and X Ave in rural Waucoma for a report of a crash. Officials say a 2000 Chevy S10 truck was driving southbound of X Ave when it approached an uncontrol gravel intersection and collided with a 2007 Ford Edge that was traveling westbound on 240 St.

Man Who Kidnapped & Raped in New Hampton Has Died in Prison
A Minnesota man serving prison time for a kidnapping and rape in New Hampton has died at the Anamosa State Penitentiary, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 42 year old Travis Alve died Wednesday afternoon. His body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office to determine a cause of death. Foul play is not suspected. Alve and another man, Rick Brandes, met a woman at a New Hampton bar in 2005. Later, they held that woman at Brandes’ apartment, threatened her with a knife, and sexually assaulted her. Alve was serving a 55 year sentence for second degree Sexual Abuse. Brandes was found guilty of first degree Kidnapping and was sentenced to life in prison. He died in prison last year.
Illinois Man Killed After Crashing SUV in Northeast Iowa
An Illinois man is dead after crashing his SUV in Northeast Iowa. The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office says they received a 911 call at about 1 pm Saturday (06.29) afternoon about a vehicle running off the road and disappearing into the ditch on Highway 9 near 260th Avenue. At the scene, about five miles west of Decorah, a deputy determined that a wrecked Toyota SUV, which could not be seen from the roadway, had entered the north ditch, traveled through thick vegetation, and rolled over, landing on its roof.
