Garage sale days bring shoppers to Waunakee

Waunakee's Garage Sale Days drew shoppers to the village for the hundreds of sales throughout the community May 10.

Rain put a bit of a damper on the traditional opening day Thursday, but sunny skies brought the sales back onto the yards and driveways and out of the garages on Friday. The sales run through Saturday.

Shoppers could find just about anything, including musical instruments, children's and adult clothes, furniture, games, hunting equipment and more. The Friends of the Waunakee Public Library hosted its own sale, as well, featuring vintage furniture and housewares, along with books.

Area businesses also took advantage of the added traffic with outdoor sales along Main Street.

This year, the Waunakee Tribune took over the maps and other details, and despite a later start than usual to the process, customers were able to pick up their signs and the maps were delivered to sponsoring businesses, so the community's longstanding garage sale tradition carried on.

Waunakee's Garage Sale Days always take place Thursday-Saturday prior to Mother's Day.
