    Wausau Pilot & Review

Fire ripped through an east-side home late Sunday in Wausau, with the cause under investigation.

Fire Chief Jeremy Kopp tells Wausau Pilot the blaze was called in at 9:21 p.m. June 30 at 809 Plumer St., a single-family residence. No one was injured. Witnesses called the fire substantial.

Marathon County Jail records list a man arrested Sunday who is facing preliminary charges of arson and reckless endangerment. Online court records show the inmate lists 809 Plumer St. in Wausau as his most recent address.

Officials have not confirmed a connection between the arrest and the Plumer Street fire. Wausau Pilot will update this story with additional information when formal charges are filed.

A reporter is headed to the scene.

The Pilot often relies on reports from police officials in control of a crime, fire or crash scene during a breaking news event. While these initial reports are valuable to readers, they also can be incomplete and even inaccurate. We let readers know what we can and can’t confirm, as well as when and how we received our information. Then we work to aggressively gather a wider range of perspectives and to verify the information through public records, interviews, photos and videos, all of which are verified before publishing.
