Wausau Events will shift Thursday’s 4th of July fireworks to Saturday amid weather concerns.

Organization leaders consulted with meteorologists from both local TV stations before making the decision to shift to one of the event’s previously chosen rain dates.

In a news release issued Thursday, Wausau Events Executive Director Alissandra Aderholdt acknowledged the many changes to recent events due to weather concerns.

“This is the largest fireworks show that our organization and our fireworks team has ever done, and we cannot wait for the public to see it on Saturday,” she said.

Wausau Events will open the gates to the Downtown Wausau Airport at 7 p.m. on Saturday for attendees, with the fireworks show starting around 9:15 p.m. as originally planned. Carry-ins are allowed and chairs are encouraged to watch the show. Weapons, smoking, and pets will not be allowed on the event grounds. Admission is free and donations are encouraged to support this event for future years.

For more information on future events, please visit www.wausauevents.org or follow Wausau Events on social media for any event updates.
