A man died by suicide after jumping from the Landmark Apartments in Wausau, Police Chief Matt Barnes confirmed on Monday.

Dispatchers took the call at 7:48 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25 and paged rescue crews to the Landmark, 221 Scott St., Wausau. Barnes confirmed the victim is an adult who died as a result of his injuries.

Wausau Pilot does not typically disclose the names of people who die by suicide.

The victim is not the first to die after falling or jumping from the building. In April 2023, the most recent example, a man who mistakenly thought he was being pursued by police died after jumping to his death from a fourth-floor window at the Landmark.
