Police: Homeless man arrested after carjacking, assaulting woman in Waveland
WAVELAND, Miss. (WLOX) - Thursday, the Waveland Police Department announced the arrest of 24-year-old Taye Thomas-Troy Dufrene after the investigation of a carjacking. The incident took place around 8 a.m. Thursday morning, which is when investigators say a woman was approached by Dufrene in the parking lot of Wal-Mart and asked her for a ride, offering money in return. She agreed, and as the woman drove into the area of Avenue B and Coral Street, Dufrene began punching her in the face and said he would kill her if she didn’t get out of the car. She complied, and Dufrene drove off in the vehicle.
Kiln mom and daughter injured in lightning strike
A Kiln mother and daughter were injured last week when lightning struck their home while they were both holding plugged-in cell phones. “I was laying in my bed and it was lightning outside and I had my phone plugged into the wall and lightning hit my house and came through the wall and through the phone charger into my phone and electrocuted me,” Kathryn Underwood-Teck said Tuesday.
Preliminary trial date set for Mississippi man accused of killing girlfriend
GULFPORT, Miss. (WSMV) - A preliminary trial date has been set for a Mississippi man accused of murdering his girlfriend a week after bonding out of a Nashville jail. Bricen Rivers, 23, was set to appear in a Davidson County courtroom on Wednesday for charges stemming from his December arrest, however, he remains in a Mississippi jail and had no legal representation appear on his behalf in Nashville.
