Conference Mediations for Charles City, Decorah, Waverly-Shell Rock Wednesday (07.17)
The futures of what will eventually be three former Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) schools could be decided by state officials starting Wednesday (07.17). Charles City, Decorah and Waverly-Shell Rock (WSR) are all headed for mediation in separate efforts to join new conferences starting with the 2025-26 school year. Moves precipitated with the NEIC set to dissolve after the 2024-25 school year after current league members New Hampton, Cresco-Crestwood, and Waukon have opted to join the Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) starting July 1, 2025.
Northeast Iowa Road Construction Projects Starting Tuesday, Coming Weeks
The New Hampton Construction of the Iowa DOT has announced several construction projects slated to start in the coming days and weeks. A bridge deck overlay for the Iowa 13 bridge over the Volga River, about four miles south of Iowa 56 in Clayton County, is slated to begin Tuesday (07.16). Temporary traffic signals will be in place to help direct you across the bridge, which will be reduced to one lane with an 18-foot-2-inch lane-width restriction.
Public Information Meeting: Big Woods Campground Expansion
The City of Cedar Falls is conducting a Public Information Meeting to provide information and answer questions related to the proposed expansion of the Big Woods Campground. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 30, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Big Woods Campground East Lake Street in Cedar Falls (see below map for directions).
