WAVERLY, N.Y. ( WETM ) – A five-year-old sustained only minor injuries after falling 30 feet from an embankment at Waverly Glen Park on Thursday morning.

According to the Waverly Police Department, Waverly Police were called to Waverly Glen Park on Thursday, July 25, around 10:44 a.m. for the report of a five-year-old boy who had fallen 30 feet from the area of the waterfall at the park. Waverly-Barton Fire Department and Greater Valley EMS were also called to the scene.

Upon arrival, police say the boy was found sitting with his mother at a pavilion. After an investigation, it was discovered that the boy had hit his head on a rock and had sustained a cut to his head.

The boy was then transported by ambulance to a local hospital for medical treatment. No rescue efforts were needed by the fire department or EMS.

After further investigation, police found that the boy had run from his mother while she was attending to her other children and then fell approximately 30 feet from the embankment.
