IOW County Schools to use snow day in May

ISLE OF WIGHT, Va. (WAVY) – The Isle of Wight County Schools has voted to approve a snow day in May.

The school calendar includes days built in to account for unforeseen missed days, due to events like severe weather.

The extra snow day is scheduled for May 24, the Friday before Memorial Day.

According to the school board, this extra day will hopefully allow an extra day for both students and staff to recharge before the school year starts to wrap up.

The extra day was decided after a March 14 School Board meeting, as members discussed how little time was missed in schools for the year.
