AI cameras installed in Ellenville school buses (VIDEO)
ELLENVILLE – All Ellenville school district buses are now equipped with new high-tech cameras to keep everyone on the bus. Village Police Chief Phil Mattracion, who also serves as school board president, said the new Lytx system was installed in Rolling V company school buses to be used during the upcoming school year. Rolling V is contracted by the district. He says the cameras have artificial intelligence capability that will enable them to communicate with the driver and the supervisors at the bus company.
O’Donnell named new Orange County commissioner of jurors
GOSHEN – Molly O’Donnell, a long-time employee in the Orange County Department of Human Resources, has been selected as the county’s new commissioner of jurors. O’Donnell, who is also the mayor of the Village of Goshen, was chosen by a panel of five judges and County Legislature Chairwoman Katie Bonelli.

COXSACKIE— A shortage of priests in the local diocese is forcing Catholic church leaders to take a fresh look at how to conduct Masses in the Hudson Valley Vicariate West. Eighth anniversary of Gap warehouse fire passes; still no arrests
FISHKILL – On August 29, 2016, fire departments throughout the Mid-Hudson Valley responded to a fire at the Gap Inc. distribution center on Merritt Boulevard in Fishkill. The facility, covering approximately one million square feet, began burning at night and the fire continued through dawn the next morning. The fire, deemed “suspicious” by authorities including the State Police and Dutchess County Fire Investigation Division, prompted an investigation. But, after eight years, no one has been arrested.
New faculty, mentors join for New Staff Orientation
Earlier this week, the district held its annual new staff orientation for faculty members who are joining the district this school year. Led by Dr. Evelyn Schneider and Jen Cestare, the orientation pairs veteran teachers with new hires to serve as mentors throughout the school year and help our new teachers become acclimated to the district.

New Sign Leads People to Nature Center for Fall Fun
The Hudson Highlands Nature Center (HHNC) formerly known as the Museum of the Hudson Highlands has done more than change its name. They have gotten a new sign. The HHNC sign on Route 218 in the Village of Cornwall was looking like it need a bit of help. So Tyler Ryan was tapped to create a new one just in time for people to be looking for the HHNC to enjoy all the fall activities.
Second night of Newburgh gunfire
NEWBURGH – The Shot Spotter alert system in Newburgh did its job for a second time this week with activation of shots being fired in the city. This time, minutes after midnight Thursday morning, gunshots were reported in the area of 123 Chambers Street with several shell casings located in the area.
