PORT JERVIS – A Port Jervis resident is on a mission to accomplish something she says has been on her mind for a while. Warwick seeks state funding to revamp land use rules
The village of Warwick is seeking state funding to support its efforts to rewrite local zoning code. During the July 1 Warwick Village Board meeting, Mayor Michael Newhard shared that the village applied for the grant last year and was very close to receiving funding. Local transportation business with ties to Monroe indicted
On July 3, New York Attorney General Letitia James announced the arrests and indictments of Daler Yuldashev and Damir Yuldashev, their company DYD Universe, Inc. (DYD), and Nigina Iskandarova for allegedly being involved in a scheme that stole over $2.3 million from Medicaid and paid illegal kickbacks to Medicaid recipients. Daler and Damir Yuldashev operated DYD as a medical transportation provider and allegedly used it to overcharge Medicaid millions of dollars in fees by billing for fake trips and adding fake tolls to the rides they provided. Along with Iskandarova, they also allegedly paid kickbacks to Medicaid recipients to recruit more customers.
WV Rotary Installation is a FIRST! Two Presidents!
Last week Warwick Valley Rotary experienced a first. Two people were installed as Co-Presidents. However, these two people are husband and wife and that would be David and Patti Dempster. They also delighted the audience with their amazing musical talent with Patti singing “Let’s Give’em Something to Talk About (Bonnie Raitt’s hit) & Heat Wave while Daivd brought the heat and the beat on the drums. They met in the early 90’s, married in 1996 and they are still making great music together for themselves and Rotary! Even the storm that swept through on Wednesday evening did not deter the full house and everyone got home safe thanks to our dedicated DPW and Chief Radar and the Warwick Police Department. Congrats to the Dempsters’ and here’s to an amazing year for all those who benefit each year from the tireless work of the dedicated Rotarians.
O’Brien concedes Conservative line to Ingrassia in NY-100 Assembly race
MIDDLETOWN – Camille O’Brien has conceded the Conservative line to Lou Ingrassia Jr. after losing to him in the 100th Assembly District Republican primary on Tuesday. Ingrassia defeated O’Brien 1,249 to 858 in the primary. The NY-100 consists of Middletown and Wallkill in Orange County and most of Sullivan County.
