Ellis County residents are on the brink of witnessing the change, as the Commissioners' Court is set to take on a replat application in the Hopgood Addition. Ellis County, Texas indicates that the area in question, currently known as C.H. Silliman's Subdivision Lot 12, proposes to redraw its boundaries, encompassing approximately three acres of land located around 2,000 feet west of where Old Buena Vista Road and Mesa Road intersect, in the extraterritorial jurisdiction of Maypearl.

Duncanville Promotes Veteran Employee Matt Bryant to Lead Public Works Department
The City of Duncanville has appointed a new Director of Public Works, promoting from within their ranks to fill the position. Matt Bryant, a long-time employee with more than a decade and a half of service to the city, was announced as the department's new leader, an appointment reflecting Duncanville's commitment to nurturing and advancing its personnel. According to the City of Duncanville, City Manager Douglas E. Finch expressed his confidence in Bryant's capabilities. "Matt Bryant stood out from the pool of talented candidates we interviewed. He has the background, experience here in Duncanville, and innovative thinking skills our organization needs going forward", Finch said.
Texas Country Festival Set for October in Waxahachie
The Crossroads of Texas Country Festival with more arts and music this eyar takes place from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. October 26 in downtown Waxahachie. Admission is FREE. Kelli and Bob Phillips, hosts of the nationwide radio show and podcast “On the Road with Kelli and Bob,” serve as hosts of the festival as they spotlight ordinary people doing extraordinary things in Texas and around the nation. The City of DeSoto is designated as an Entitlement City and participates in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Grant (CDBG) Program. As a participant in the CDBG Program, the City of DeSoto is required to prepare and submit the FY 2024 Annual Action Plan which describes how the City will use its CDBG funds. The City of DeSoto anticipates receiving $273,973 in CDBG funds for the program period of October 1, 2024 – September 30, 2025.
