Car-repair dispute led to fatal shooting, prosecutor tells judge
A recent fatal shooting in Toledo’s Polish Village neighborhood was triggered by a dispute over a car repair, an assistant Lucas County prosecutor said in court Tuesday morning. Judge Lindsay Navarre set bond at $2.5 million for defendant Fabian Dorrough, 44, of the 1800 block of Wellesley Drive, after a bond hearing in Lucas County Common Pleas Court. He is charged with alternative counts of murder and felonious assault, all with gun specifications, for the Oct. 11 death of Rashad Ewing, 46, in the 3400 block of Twining Street. After Mr. Dorrough entered not-guilty pleas to the charges during arraignment, prosecutor Angela Zavac told the court Tuesday morning that a dispute between the defendant and the victim arose because of deficient repairs Mr. Dorrough performed on Mr. Ewing’s vehicle. The repairs “were not done well at all” and Mr. Ewing successfully sued Mr. Dorrough in small-claims court, but Mr. Dorrough never paid the settlement, Ms. Zavac said.
