WAYNESBORO — Authorities in Waynesboro have charged a man with murder in a Tuesday morning shooting that left another man dead.

The slaying took place at about 9 a.m. at a home in the 400 block of James Avenue, according to the Waynesboro Police Department.

Police said Jacob P. Sipe, 23, of Waynesboro, is charged with second-degree murder.

Sipe is accused of killing 33-year-old Trevor Hill, a Waynesboro man who was found on the front porch of the home. A neighbor told The News leader he heard anywhere from three to five gunshots.

Sipe was located by police "suffering from injuries," a press release said. He was taken to Augusta Health in Fishersville for treatment.

Sipe has since been jailed. Besides the murder charge, he is also facing a charge of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

He is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail in Verona.

Police continue to investigate and ask that anyone with information concerning the shooting to contact Detective L. K. Marion at (540) 942-6543.
