CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — Ahead of anticipated snow across much of West Virginia Friday night into Saturday , West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) crews are treating the roads.

Along the Ohio River and into northern, central and north central West Virginia, 2 to 6 inches of snow are expected to fall between 6 p.m. on Friday and 4 a.m. on Saturday. Pendleton, Pocahontas, Randolph, Tucker, Berkeley, Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Jefferson, Mineral and Morgan counties are under a Winter Storm Warning because they’re expecting five to eight inches of snow Friday night into Saturday morning.

In a press release, the WVDOH said crews are assigned to continue snow removal and ice control operations on a 24-hour, 7-day-per-week basis until all roads are addressed.

Clarksburg, WV sunsets will be after 6 p.m. starting next week

Roads are plowed in the following order of priority:

    1. The Interstate, Expressway, National Highway System, and all other US, West Virginia and high-traffic county routes.
    2. All other school bus routes not included in Priority 1
    3. The remaining routes, not including park and forest routes.
    4. Park and forest routes.

Once Priority 1 routes are deemed to be in acceptable condition, WVDOH operators move on to Priority 2 and 3 routes, and as snow returns, they return to Priority 1 routes.

The WVDOH also asked drivers to slow down and give snow plow drivers enough room to work.

The latest information on travel conditions is available on wv511.org . You can report a snow-covered road in your area by calling 833-WV-ROADS (833-987-6237).
