    Some north central West Virginia schools closed Friday amid heavy flooding

    CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — Several locations across north central West Virginia experienced flooding Thursday night amid a Flash Flood Warning , with some counties electing to cancel school Friday.

    As of 10:42 p.m. on Thursday, public schools in Harrison and Doddridge counties will be closed on Friday. Ritchie County Schools will be on a two-hour delay.

    According to the Harrison County 911 Media Log, several parts of rural Harrison County including Shinnston, Sedalia and Salem have had reports of flooding including multiple calls to Dog Run Road in Salem which leads to the Dog Run Lake reservoir.

    An image sent in by a 12 News viewer confirmed that Main Street in Salem was completely underwater as of around 10:15 p.m.

    Marion County Homeland Security & Emergency Management posted intermittent updates to its Facebook page Thursday night informing Marion County residents of flood reports across the county. The closures as of 10:42 p.m. are as follows:

    West Virginia 511 has also reported that WV Route 23 toward Center Point was closed in both directions at mile marker 10 as of 9:42 p.m. The reason for the closure was not given.
