BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man was charged last week after deputies found meth and marijuana in his vehicle while performing a traffic stop in Upshur County.

On Aug. 8, deputies with the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department observed a Jeep traveling in the area of Hootin Holler Road and then turn onto Phillip’s Dairy Road, noting that the driver “ashed his cigarette out the driver’s window multiple times until the cigarette was gone,” according to a criminal complaint.

Deputies then performed a traffic stop and “detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle” while speaking with the vehicle’s driver, Ronald Winneberger, 54, deputies said.

At that time, deputies noticed “a marijuana cigarette in the passenger’s door handle,” which resulted in a search being performed; deputies located 2 ounces of methamphetamine in “multiple” bags, eight containers of marijuana and a set of digital scales, according to the complaint.

Winneberger has been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. He is being held in Tygart Valley Regional Jail on $120,000 bond.
