WESTON, W.Va. (WBOY) — If you’ve ever been to a football game at Lewis County High School, you know how exerting the walk to the field can be, especially for senior citizens and people with disabilities. However, that walk is about to get a little easier for those who need the help.

With the help of local non-profit Lewis County First, project manager Freddie Potter and the Lewis County Community, the Lewis County Athletics Department now has three new transportation carts to help people get from the school parking lot to the football field.

“Thank you to everyone who gave as little as pocket change up to you know $5,000 or more. Their generosity is greatly appreciated and thanks to all that generosity, these things are all paid for and there were times when I thought ‘this is not going to happen,’ but it did,” Potter said.

Potter has been partnering with Lewis County First to raise money for these carts since July 18, 2023, and finally got to see his project through Thursday night as he handed over the keys to the Lewis County Athletic Director.
