Louisiana Downs is celebrating the life and legacy of country music icon and horseman, Toby Keith, on Independence Day. There will be live racing with all of the races named after Toby Keith songs. SHREVEPORT, LA- Shreveport Police Make Arrest in Overnight Homicide. Shreveport Police have made an arrest following last night’s homicide in north Shreveport. On July 1, 2024, just after 9:45 p.m., Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to the 2100 block of Grimmett Drive on reports of a shooting. Arriving officers located a man suffering from multiple gunshot injures. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Former Olympian and World Heavyweight Champion, Mark Henry is coming to Shreveport this august for Geek'd Con. Mark Henry started his athletic career as a powerlifter at age 18, earning himself the name of World's Strongest Teenager after setting world records for his age, that title would follow him into adulthood as the World's Strongest Man. Henry would take part in the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games, and won several medals in the Pan American Games, later retiring from weightlifting after suffering a back injury. Henry began his pro-wrestling career in 1996 and would go on to win the World Heavyweight Championship.

For the first time in more than two weeks, Keith Rutherford, the owner of Shreveport's Eagle Truck Center, has been able to log onto his work computer. The truck dealer on Ockley Drive in Shreveport was one of the 15,000 dealerships around the country that lost all access to its business software in a giant ransomware attack on CDK Global, a company that provides software that processes vehicle sales and other transactions. East Texas Heatwave: Heat Indices Up to 113 Degrees
East Texas – An intense heatwave continues to grip East Texas, with dangerous heat levels expected to persist through Thursday. The National Weather Service in Shreveport, Louisiana, has issued a Heat Advisory for southeast Oklahoma and parts of East Texas, effective until 8 PM CDT Thursday.
