    Scranton officials supporting small businesses through ARPA funds

    SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Lackawanna County officials are continuing to support small businesses through its American Rescue Plan funds.

    Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti along with other city officials gathered at Buona Pizza in downtown Scranton to announce their third and final round of recipients to receive the wage boost grant.

    Businesses selected for the grant can receive up to $50,000 for two years, the money comes from an ARPA fund, the city, and local businesses.

    Monroe, Pike County projects to begin thanks to state grant

    “We’ve been able to help small businesses top up wages and get to those higher wages to be able to retain employees and keep their businesses open not just now but successful into the future,” said Mayor Cognetti.

    “We have another hire so you know they make good money, I actually gave my son a raise too and you know we win, the city wins, and our employees win,” said Buona Pizza Owner Giovanni Piccolino.

    Buona Pizza received over $30,000.
