SOUTH ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — One place where heavy rain often causes problems is in the Clark’s Summit area.

Drivers dealt with wet roads and ponding water like at one intersection in South Abington Township.

The township sent crews out to help clear catch basins, but homes like one 28/22 News found on Griffin Pond Road still experienced minor flooding.

Streams of water rushed down multiple roads in the Abingtons.

“It’s surprising because it wasn’t that long of a period to have this much of rain,” said Max Bonaddio from South Abington Township.

“It’s a little bit heavier than usual. We just came through the intersection in downtown and cars are having a hard time getting through it. It’s got to be expected. It’s northeastern Pennsylvania and you’re going to get storms,” South Abington Township resident Mike Moletski said.

Several roads in Lackawanna County became troublesome for drivers after the downpours.
