    Newsmakers to Feature: Interagency Council of Lackawanna

    (WBRE/WYOU) This Sunday’s newsmakers will focus on the Interagency Council Of Lackawanna County.

    The group will be hosting a conference on gang violence intervention and finding solutions in our community in October.

    Hosts Jayne Ann Bugda and Andy Mehalshick will be joined by Lackawanna County D.A. Mark Powell, Cindy Kennedy, President Of The Interagency Council, And Maureen Maher-Grey, Founder Of The NEPA Youth Shelter.

    The panel will discuss the presence of gangs in our communities.  They will also talk about the need for community involvement and how to keep young people engaged so they are not influenced by gang activity.   This will be a very informative conversation for all area communities.

    Newsmakers will air Sunday, September 8th at 7:30 am on WYOU and 11:30 am on WBRE.

    The Lackawanna County Interagency Council is a member agency of Health and Human Service Agencies that provide services to the residents of and around Lackawanna County.

    The Council meets the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Salvation Army in Scranton at 9 am.

    Each year the Interagency Council hosts an educational conference for members and the community on emerging topics in our community.

    The mission of the NEPA Youth Shelter is to provide quality emergency shelter and related services to unaccompanied youth ages 14 through high school graduation from all counties in NEPA.
