MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – New details were released Tuesday afternoon regarding a road rage incident in Mount Pleasant that left a man shot. What led to the shooting is still unknown.

A report from the Mount Pleasant Police Department noted that an act of road rage resulted in a physical altercation between two men, and at least one shot being fired .

An officer responded to the intersection of Six Mile Road and Rifle Range Road on the night of August 15. Once there, the officer saw two vehicles stopped in the roadway – a black SUV with a North Carolina license plate and a gray motorcycle with a South Carolina plate.

A man wearing biker gear was holding a green rag to his face while pacing in the roadway, according to the report. A group of individuals was seen comforting another man on the ground who had been shot.

Police said in the report that it appeared as though the wound “went clean throughout the individual’s left lower back.” He was treated at the scene before being taken to an area hospital for further care.

They said a firearm was found on the ground between the SUV and the motorcycle. The other man was detained; however, police did not say whether an arrest was made.

The investigation remains active while police follow up on additional leads.
