UPDATE: Springfield Police share more information on woman found dead Sunday

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — Springfield Police have shared more information about a woman found dead Sunday on 5th Street.

Officers arrived to scene around 9 a.m. Springfield firefighters pronounced the woman dead at the scene. Officers on scene said there did not appear to be any trauma to the body.

Springfield Police detectives arrived to the crime scene to investigate further.

Her identity is still unknown.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — The Sangamon County Coroner announced a woman was found dead in Springfield Sunday.

Coroner Jim Allmon said in a news release the woman was found on North 5th Street near East Bergen Street. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday. The coroner is investigating the death with the Springfield Police Department.
