BLUE MOUND, Ill. (WCIA) — An employee was fired from the village of Blue Mound for putting the municipality in jeopardy.

Minutes from a meeting showed Jennifer Prasun was fired unanimously at their July 1 meeting. In the minutes, Blue Mound Chief Chad Lamb said he would pack up her personal belongings.

The board said they will pursue legal action against Prasun. Lamb said he would hand over the investigation to Illinois State Police as they are impartial. An ISP spokesperson told WCIA Tuesday afternoon that they have not made an arrest.

At the meeting it was repeated to address any inquiry of Prasun by saying the village “cannot comment on personnel” matters, and she’s gone due to “actions detrimental to the village.”

Minutes from that meeting also show the village secretary, Diana Kupish, has temporarily taken over the task of handling payroll until a new employee is hired. The board is also considering hiring a treasurer and getting a village safe for important documents.

This is a developing story. We will provide updates as we learn more.
