CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) – A wrestling event is here in Champaign. It’s through the All Elite Wrestling, a promotional show highlighting some of the best wrestlers in the world.

Central Illinois native Tony Khan is the CEO, General Manager and Head of Creative who said he came up with the AEW idea when he was living in Champaign, at just 12 years old.

They had a show at the State Farm Center back in 2019 for their 10th episode. Now, onto their 200th episode, he said he’s ready for round two here in Champaign.

“Well, I was a kid growing up. I went to St John’s Lutheran School and I had this idea of Wednesday Night Dynamite, and I started writing wrestling shows and I’ve been doing it my whole life since then, since I was 12. And I kept doing it. And eventually there was a market to actually create a wrestling show and that became Wednesday night Dynamite,” said Khan.

The show even went international. This past Sunday, there was a show in London with over 50,000 fans.

The show Wednesday evening kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Click here for more information on ticket purchases.
