PHOTOS: Firefighters rescue man from grain bin in Logan County

NEW HOLLAND, Ill. (WCIA) — Multiple Central Illinois fire departments responded to a Logan County village on Wednesday for a grain bin rescue.

The Lincoln Rural Fire Protection District was among the agencies that responded to the New Holland Elevator. Officials posted on Facebook that a single person was trapped up to his waist when Lincoln arrived.

New Holland Fire, Middletown Fire and the Logan County Paramedic Association responded to the grain elevator as well. At the end of a “significant joint effort,” the victim was rescued in a little over an hour with little to no injuries.

“As we have seen before, grain bin rescues have the potential to be a very serious type of call, and we are grateful that it had a positive outcome and such a great working relationship with first responders in our county,” officials from Lincoln said.
