EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WCIA) — A man has been charged with a DUI from a crash earlier this year that killed an infant.

On April 24, Joshua Wendt collided into Jordan Warren’s car, killing his child James Austin Warren. According to the charging document from the Effingham County State’s Attorney, methamphetamine was present in Wendt’s urine.

At the time, Wendt was ticketed for failing to reduce speed.

Wendt was charged with aggravated driving under the influence of drugs causing death this week in court. If convicted, 41-year-old Wendt faces three to 14 years in prison from the charge. His next day in court is Oct. 2.

The Effingham community has previously pitched in to help the Warren family.
