    UPDATE on 9/4/2024

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — The license for Applebee’s location in Forsyth has been revoked.

Lindsey Munsterman, the Macon County Health Department’s Public Health Administrator, confirmed the Board of Health voted 4-3 to revoke the restaurant’s food license Tuesday evening.

WCIA reached out to a representative of the Applebee’s franchise owner, but did not immediately hear back.

FORSYTH, Ill. (WCIA) — The future of a restaurant in Forsyth is in the hands of the Macon County Board of Health.

The Applebee’s in town had its food permit suspended after violating the county’s food sanitation ordinance for not storing food at the proper temperatures. The restaurant had two suspensions in a 12-month period, which is grounds for the department to revoke their food license.

The company said in a statement it is working with the health department.

“A clean, well-run restaurant is what our guests deserve and expect,” Kevin Allardice for Bloomin Apple, an Applebee’s Franchisee said in a statement to WCIA. “As soon as we were visited by the health department, we took immediate action to correct the identified issues. We will continue to work closely with the health department to ensure the safety of our guests and hope to reopen soon.”

If the license is revoked, the Applebee’s restaurant can appeal the revocation. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
